My shed currently has a mix of wood: Red Oak, Black Locust, Pine and this stuff (not sure what it even is?), Tree of Heavean maybe? Anyway, under each split of this particular wood, is small piles of saw dust. None of the other wood has it, and each split has these holes bored thru it..... Who dunn it?
Not sure what you have there. The piles of dust make it sound like powder post beetles but we don't get big holes like that. Here is some elm that the beetles got to. It happens every year and we simply don't worry about it and just knock the dust off before bringing into the home. In the last picture you see lots of tiny holes and this is typical of the PPB.
Well, the powder I have left over looks the same as yours. And the holes in my pic I think look bigger than they actually are, but they are about 1/8" round. Can you ever see a PPB? Or are they too small to see?
Yuppers. It does look then like the PPB. Don't worry about it at all. I've seen the bug a few times but never really looked for any.
