No heat except for space heaters, This would of been a great time to have installed the insert in the family room.
When you say the furnace went out, what does that mean? Did it fail so that it is not repairable? Do you have another backup besides space heaters?

I hope all goes well for you! Stay warm, spring will get here! My furnace (propane) went out 3 years ago when I turned it off after I had the Buck 80 installed! We are under a winter storm warning and expecting 3 to 5" of snow tonight, rare but not unheard of here. This to be followed by record cold temps. This is what I do when folks around here complain about fuel prices:
HVAC person came out, it's constantly starting and stopping. He said it could be a circuit board, Pilot light etc, it's 20 years old so heat exchanger issues possible. I have a friend that owns a hvac stopping by Monday for a look. It's 19 degrees so it might be a two dog night tonight.
I lived for 2 years in the late '80's in Amarillo, TX. It gets really cold there and is always windy; but then it'll be 75* 2-3 days later!!! Had a blizzard and several days below 0 when I was there.
