Great looking stacks. It's great being a few years ahead, so you don't have to run around like crazy looking for chit last minute. It sure does help when all your neighbors know you burn firewood.

Great looking stacks! What do you top-cover them with?

I'm a hoarder all around, when I can get osb/plywood free, I cut up 2x4 foot pieces, or whatever size, and throw them on top first, one on each end of a stack and then a couple interspersed along the way, then roll out rubber roofing material on top of that. The plywood gives a nice flat surface to throw cement block on top and I got some locust rounds and even 12 or 16 in. sidewalk pavers to hold stuff down.

Most of my stuff is cut 20 inches, though some is 22, some 18. I figure I got 4+ years worth sitting here. Nice thing for me is all my neighbors know I burn wood...I'm 55 years old, and they're all 70+.....anytime they need a tree taken down, or hauled out, they contact me. Plus the power lines have been getting cleared out around here and I've just been able to get all sorts of firewood over the past couple years for free.

Thanks for the kind comments folks, and especially, for calling me a HOARDER......what an honor:cheers:[/QUOTE]

    Beautiful work there.

Difference here is that we have lots of neighbors in the 55 year old range and it is me in the 70+ category.... and I'm the wood cutter.

I gotta confess, I've been holding out on y'all. I got this stack of white oak in the garage, it's topped with some chunkuglies, but the rest is white oak. Got another stack a wee bit bigger than this one in another garage. I like dippin' into the white oak when the temps drop.

Curious why you have so many toilet paper holders back there......oh, and why they're all empty.

Well bogydave, I gotta tell ya, that white oak was dead standing, and the wood is similar to granite, seriously hard stuff, and far from straight grained.....take a looky at my avatar and you'll see the beast that split 'em down to size.

I got a feeling you're looking at those lathe tool handles eh? I guess I could 'turn' as many tp holders as I want, ash would make good ones!

Anyone with nice neat stacks like you have , had to have a garage that's just as neat and orderly!

When do we see pics of the stove or fireplace? :) Is that oak some sort of "special reserve" for emergencies? I have a little stash in my garage too......

That walnut you have, will be a treat to burn... I had some walnut one time, but I don't think I have any coming my way in the near future....

Yeah Fanatical1, that's part of my little white oak stash, for cold spells, of course, bogydave probably needs it more than I :)

I got tons of walnut, and ash, cherry, locust, mulberry, oak, hickory, redcedar, elm and likely other stuff I can't recall. 20141117_201750.jpg

I think it's the german in me that makes for a tidy compound!
