I here that Bill! I like it cool where I sleep too. Although the wife won't let it get too cool. So I leave the upstairs thermostat at 67deg. My house was a five unit apartment house when I bought it. I lived in one and rented the other four out. Then over the years I met my better half and we married and started expanding the family. So I converted the place into one house and two stall garage in several remodels a bit at a time. The nice thing is it was an easy conversion and now there are heat zones on each floor and in the garage. So there are four zones for living, a zone for the garage and a zone for the indirect hot water heater. I love the fact that we also get our hot water for everything from wood heat as well!
26 currently, expecting our first snow flakes this season. Not expected to hit 32, so it will have been since Tuesday since we've seen 32 degrees. We normally don't see this until January. But hey I say bring it on. I actually let the fire go out lastnight setting at 80 degrees when I went to bed at 8. Woke up to 65 at 4 a.m. But cleaned out the ashes and reloaded her up, when I left the house it was 72 already. Got a full load of honey locust, mulberry and oak rolling ...and Chili in the crockpot...
28f in Winchester right now. We've been burning pretty steadily for about 4 days. Wifey isn't nearly as shy as she used to be about throwing a piece on the fire when she gets home.
28 here now,21 when I woke up. Cloudy all morning, light snow is expected after 1PM. 2-3 inches by Sunday morning. Black Cherry/Silver Maple doing its thing, with an occasional small piece of Mulberry & Green Ash.
Wow, nicely done! The fact that your heat is zoned makes all the difference I bet. We have oil heat. The way our ranch is laid out, our insert kills 2 of our 4 zones. Not bad considering 1 zone is the basement (which we only heat when needed) and the other is the bedrooms which I like cooler. My wife and kids were out of town last night so I enjoyed letting the bedroom cool down to 57 degrees! Of course, when I'm up & at 'em I need a little more heat than that!
LOL. Thanks Bill. 57?! Now that is some cool sleeping temperatures right there! LOL You must like getting to a hot shower in the morning.
We still have enough Pine left for two more loads, we had 18 degrees this morning, because I wanted to clean most of the ashes out of the wood stove this morning, we burned the pellet stove last night, it was 69 in here this morning. The wood stove has been running since I took the ashes out..... that was after coffee.
27 here with a dusting of snow overnight. Supposed to have flurries all day and then 2" tomorrow. Got Ole' Betty in the coal burn down mode. I'll be feeding her some mixed diet in a little while. Now back to the caffeine and news.............
Right about 30 here right now. Very light snow coming down. Ash, Pine, and a few small Maple rounds gasifying in the boiler. A comfy 72 in the living room.
Single digits this morning with a nice blanket of snow on the ground. Using some elm in my mixture of silver maple too. Sometimes watching all the hard work we do go up in flames can be bittersweet, but since that elm is hand split....I say "Burn you @#$@ burn!!!!"
We had 28 this morning, loaded the Liberty up with Elm and Cherry, 69 in the living room when we got up with the basement at 73. We did get a dusting of snow last night but you can still see the grass.
Calling for it to change to rainy/snow in town woods. But maybe it will stay as snow out here? Either way i'm gonna get back in the swamp.
