CAD strikes again

Ready for fuel.

MS441C-M. 25" ES. Even found a fat nosed bar. Dual dogs stolen from the 38 mag.

Found a great saw shop not too far away. Left the house this morning with the change jar, hit the coin star machine, added some funds from the 290 I just sold and hit the saw shop.

I'd love to plug the saw shop, but not sure if that's allowed. They had everything related to cutting, splitting, climbing, stoves, grills, etc. I was a kid in a candy store.

So this thing is going to get noticeably stronger? The only other 70cc saw I've ran is my 038mag. This thing sure would spank that already. The RPM in the cut is amazing, especially when comparing to the lower rpm power of the 38 mag.

What is the official answer on the warm restart? Just put it to run and pull? I've read that some people rechoke when warm.

Man I need to find a tree to cut before all my rounds turn to cookies.

 

Noticeable after 5 tanks or so....then better with each tank until it's broken in....roughly 10 tanks?

Warm starts should fire right up in run.

Did they calibrate it to your location and fuel mixture?

 

I walked out with the box still sealed. No calibration. I'm running 40:1 Stihl HP ultra.

It seems to restart fine in the on position, but wanted to clarify what I'd read.

 

My understanding is that you should run through the calibration method. It's simple enough. I just did my new to me 441CM a little bit ago.

Remove bar and clutch cover
Start in "choke" position and let idle for at least 60 seconds ( I timed 90 seconds)
Shut off
Restart in "run" position and let idle for at least 60 seconds ( I again timed 90 seconds)
Shut off
Mount bar and chain and cut wood like a mad man ( I cut cookies for a few minutes with mine)

They thought I was crazy for not wanting them to fuel and test fire the saw.

I just wanted to open it up and set it up myself. Savoring every moment, making it last...

So did you have your mind made up on the 441 when you went in or were you eyeballing the 461?

 

I was pretty sure on the 441. I've been saving for my dream saw for two years. That dream has changed over that time, but I've heard nothing but good things about the 441. The 461 was considered, but I really wanted to go m-tronic. The 362 would've been a fine choice too. I just wanted this one for some reason. I've been waiting a while, finally put the pieces together, and pulled the trigger....with a smile.

I'm going to do a mm. I've done every saw I've had. With the $ out in this one I want to do my research and do the right version for me. Open to suggestions

 

I think you made a fine choice myself.... Are you going to do a little cutting first before the big port job? Kind of a before and after test? It would make for a good post..... I have only one saw, a 361... If I had to do it over again, I would go with a 70 cc saw and a 50 cc saw, that is if I don't come down with a severe case of CAD and then all bets are off.

No doubt about your CAD issues Dex!
