8f now and dropping. Gonna be cooler now and when the wind shifts from the N/NW and blows in from the Lake, we'll start all this snow baloney again! Sunday night through Thursday-no one has predicted any totals yet.

We have days forecasted next week that have a high of 24 degrees and lows in the low teens. I am already blowing through my shoulder season wood :(

4 degrees this morning, lots of local lakes freezing over, may be ice fishing before Thanksgiving!

I would have to say that right at the house we got about 36" maybe a little over that. That's enough. One of the places that hit the 50" mark was just down the road about 10 minutes. Yesterday, part of Thursday, and over the next few days, the snow will be settling and compacting.
    This morning, it's reading 6f.
    (edit) sorry....-6f

Our average high right now is suppose to be 56. We are going to have a high of 30 on Tuesday. That is 30 degrees below normal temps.

Cold temperatures everywhere, it seems. A week or two ago HI had significant snowfall on some of the volcanoes...record early time for such an occurrence, and significant snowfall, not just flurries. In the teens here last night and cold again tonight. Replaced the screen on the kitchen door with the storm-really bright of me to forget to do that earlier. No wonder the kitchen was chilly this morning. I am having my first real fire of the season, have the stove about 1/3 full. It's putting out some nice heat. Have had lots of small fires, air pretty much closed, stove top about 300. Have the stovetop at 350 this evening, and more wood, so a good deal more heat. Still burning shoulder wood - probably have about 1/2 cord or slightly more stacked.
Don't know what anyone else experienced this past "summer", but we didn't see 80, that I can recall, until September. Had a really nice Indian summer for about ten days. But a very, very wet, cloudy and cool summer. Did not have to water the garden once. Waste of time taking the hoses out of the basement, just made more work putting things away this past week.
Seems as if winter may make up for summer, and give us a "real" winter again. But I'm still waiting for the snow they keep predicting and we keep not getting....
My backsaver shovel fell apart during our last snowstorm last year...I have to try to locate another. The one I see online doesn't look like the original backsaver I had. That was one amazing shovel. Anyone have a good source?

I don't think my snow shovel is an original back saver, but it does have a ergonomic bent handle and I love it
    .
Looks like they have The Original Back-Saver snow shovel at Home Depot

Thanks, HDRock. They didn't last time I was there and I didn't think to check again. Will pop down to Watertown next time I'm at the post office in Fineview.
