Yesterday I scored some mulberry and cherry for free from Craigslist. Got it cut up today and split it all with the fiskars. Measured out to about a half a cord. View attachment 36443 image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Do you deliver? I love mulberry, beautiful trees, wonderful fruit, great smoke and excellent firewood. Cherry is pretty good in all those aspects too.

Both woods are excellent - either for fuel, smoking meats & various woodworking/furniture/woodturning projects.

Burning more of that old mostly dead wormy Cherry scrap from milling today,24 degrees outside now & its doing a very good job.Have enough of it left for 2-3 more days then its back to the Silver Maple,Green Ash,White Pine, other odds & ends mix.

Free wood is the best wood. Mulberry and cherry are good to go

My favorite part about cherry is the smell as you're splitting

Pretty easy splitting, was pretty straight grained. Cherry might not have the highest btu's but its one of my favorites.

I don't come across that much of either and if I did it would go in my "special" pile for sure!

It's hard to go wrong with any wood that ends in "erry." ;)

Cool score, Craigslist comes through again. Always find it interesting how fast the mullberry turns from bright yellow to brown after a new cut end or split surface gets some air. Must be a type of kind of chemical reaction going on.
