A few pedestrians tell me that if they would wait for the city to pick it up it would take weeks. I told them not to worry I'll do it for them
Doesn't look like sugar maple to me. Maybe beech, but doesn'tt look like my beech...maybe blue beech, not American beech?
Sweet! Ever thought of giving your number to parks dept people in that district to give you a ring when there is wood? Another great score man!
I already did. They say they would call but they never do. I even offered the guys a few bucks and still doesn't call. It's ok. I scored big today. I contacted a owner 2 houses down from me and he has 8 acres and he said I can take everything that dead and leaning on his property. I will take a walk thru on Saturday to see what and where to begin. I'll bring my splitter and saw and the rest should be history..
It does resemble blue beech but not a maple. Yet blue beech will stand out because at the base it looks a bit like muscle wood. Harder than blazes that stuff is but it does not keep well. Be sure to keep it covered else within a year it will be a featherweight for sure. You will be amazed at how light a piece of wood can be.
