100_0875.JPG Not a Coleman but kinda' neat. The original manual is there and all the hardware inside for "heating the seat" or cooking on!! Designed to burn alcohol/spirits. I've gotta' couple cans of Sterno in it in case I ever use it. Adjustable heat output with slider vents on the lid which has a stainless plate on the underside. I fired it up in the woodshed one nite during the arctic blast, it does throw some good heat for your bottom. It was good for drying my gloves!!

100_1144.JPG Alaway wanted a Kero burner and there are none to be found in the wild around here, so I pulled the trigger and ordered one. This is the 1st light up and man she really roars on wide open throttle. A 639 model.

100_1133.JPG This is the 200 I found last week in the wild for 15 clams. It wanted to flood/flair up on the initial firing so I fettled the spiders out of the air tube,(shoulda' checked that 1st) and she fires right up.

Do you happen to know about this Colman burner? I would love to get it working again.

Been out of the loop but not idle.
Here's a couple I've fettled, all "mules" and ready to light.
Full tear down, even the f/a tube on that Milspec, which I felt like needed a different paint job, so came up with the grey and red. Re-wound the gen on that 200 with stranded copper wire and kept the new gen for a spare. 100_1264.JPG 100_1285.JPG

^^Thanks, 'Fuzz. the 200 was pulled out of an old barn which had partially fallen in. I have fought with the Milspec for 10 years or more. I've one other Milspec to fettle, the paint is in pretty good shape and I think I'll leave it alone.

Those milspecs are s different breed. I have a 252 milspec from 1952.... Its a great burner... But it can be a booger to get going if not patient ! I only pump 10 to 15 times for startup..... Then pump it the rest of the way after it is burning steady. They make a sound like no other :). Thanks for saving those lanterns !

Nice collection there. Now all you need is some of the early radioactive lantern mantles to go along with those gems. They quit making those, I think sometime around the early 80's. I have some that I keep for "show and tell" when teaching radiation safety classes. :BrianK: :D

I've a couple sets of older mantles that are probably "hot",,I've been wanting to take them to work and test them, but I can never remember to grab them.

Here's the "Tin Man". I pulled him out of the back of a pickup truck, no fuel cap, no globe(I have a globe for him), bad pump and leaking valve. I fettled him back to life and carved this "globe" from a soup can. He hangs outside the wood shed and never fails to light.
