Sorry no pics but got 135 lb doe, I am very happy with this deer...Had deer heart for supper, yummy and tender. I still have a bonus permit so will still be out looking for another doe.
Congrats, that is great. Two tags in Maine? Here you can shoot two a day all season long. Three bucks and all the antlerless you want as long as you keep buying bonus permits. 6 antlerless tags on each bonus permit.
Still a place where you are lucky to see a deer? Here they are thick on the ground saw 20+ and 7 turkeys before that buck stepped out. 135 pound doe is large here. The biggest one I have weighed on my place is 143 live weight. Is 135 above average for Maine?
135 is darn near a yearling if Milleo is in northern Maine. What area are you in Milleo? Northern area is a Darwin excercise on hooves. Small deer don't live the winters there. 2 deer I have shot up there were 175 and 215 dressed. Not many around, but they are bigger up there. My father always says they have extra ribs! That is why we go. Go big or go home.
Last doe I shot was 165. First thing bigger than a dog that walks in front of my tree Saturday is going down. Meat in the freezer.
Ya 135 is decent, we definitely have bigger does but also alot in the 120lb range. There is plenty of deer around but not always easy to get.
