Mine are, full 2 inch thick boards, but that's kind of irrelevant, I don't have the frame work, under to replace partial boards. Anyway as you probably know, gotta keep the leaves, wood scraps and junk out of there in winter
Yea Bought used for a grand, put 400 in it for sides, spare tire & suspension parts. A few Boards were bad & wet & the pounding I gave them with the heavy green birch made them worse. Almost feel thru, time to fix. I blow the junk out, especially the corners, pound the deck to clean the gaps between the boards. Shovel the snow it out when above freezing. Trying to extend it's life Got 2 years out of it so far. Trying it milk it for a couple more years. I might pull the deck, paint the frame & new treated deck boards For a winter project in a few years. Not sure the cost of a 16' treated 2x6, but not happening this year. Need 14 . Tires are marginal too, watching CL. but it has a good spare , Brakes work, lights work
Ya trailers really take the abuse. I finally went to magnetic lights. They seem to hold up better. Some of my trailer boards rotted out and I went to partial boards with pressure treated plywood on top. Been working for several years now. Tires are mis-matched. I'm thinking about spraying the whole trailer down with diesel to help it go thru the winter.
Neighbor said to use diesel for water resistance. Stay drier & might reduce some wood rot. Some here use cottonwood boards for decking & diesel. Have heard that it last several years. ?
That stain will probably last for a few times with wood sliding. Diesel is a good idea. Do you also prop up the front so water can run off in the spring?
Yea Stored with a tilt to the back. The back edge, where the wood tucks into the metal grove to hold the boards in place, is where most of the rotten wood is/was. Was thinking a few holes drilled in there would help it drain & stay drier. When I give it a new deck, I may make a few modifications .
These are 6 ply bias, load range "C". (5 on 5 wheels) Measuring trailer bolt pattern : Think the heavy loads I put on it& the rough trail, I should stay with heavy duty 6 ply trailer tires ? One that's fairly new (the only one without a tube now) , the other 3 are over 20 years old, look like originals.
