Nothing at HD and Lowes today! No word on when they'll get anything either. Tsc only had GS's and not all that many.

Jay, it seems that this is your year to be in the "Death Valley" of pellets. :tears:

Worst ever, Box stores have zilch and the prices at the houses are a bit scary(at least $300/ton for an average pellet). I'd have to travel around 50 miles or so. Even then seems I'd find slim pickings.

Good thing I bought lots and early!! Just looking for samples and things I don't see often enough. But they just aren't making it anywhere near me!! :(

Bah, I have almost three years worth so I'm working on the libation supply. I have 3 kinds of ale, 3 kinds of wine, and a batch of mead and hard cider in the works. This is one critter that doesn't want to be out and about when the mess hits this winter. Still have a few things to put in the larder.

Remember one needs more than just a pellet supply to get through the winter.

I just went to my local Lowes and they tell me that they are all out of pellets and the coming truck is already sold out as they have a list of names and are limiting people to 2 tons. I went to HD and bought 30 bags to add to my 74 bags, not the great pellets but they work well. I got 30 bags of Green Supremes. I also got 20 bags of Presto logs at another Lowes. Im ok for the foreseeable future.

I saw an ad, in the local free newspaper, for Inferno Gold at $280 per ton. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The place also has Old Dominion at $299/ ton.

The pellet shortage last winter allowed me the chance to try a variety of brands as HD attempted to keep its customers supplied. They did a good job of bringing in a lot of good brands. This yesr they told me they were only going to carry firesides. I ordered them but with an extended delivery date. During that time they got Blazers in. (Thanks Sub). I changed the order easily. Now they are stacked in the garage. I don't plan to burn them just yet. Instead will continue to hunt around and burn what I can find. For now, that is a lot of different brands. I do know that Rocky's in Augusta is out, but I don't know how aggressive he is to keep a supply. We still have many places to get resupplied.

Still no pellets at the local Lowes. I'm going to check out a HD tomorrow, although I suspect that it won't have any either.

Glad to help you out Larry. I'll be a little PO'd at HD, though, if mine don't show up on Dec. 18th.

Took my weekly trip to HD to pick up 5 bags of shoulder pellets. My choices were FSU and Blazers at $4.48 a bag, so I chose the Blazers:p. I also picked up a 6 gallon galvanized trash can with a tight cover for my ash disposal. While I was there I learned several things:

They expect to run out of pellets this week. Not sure when they are getting more. They had maybe 50 tons left in inventory.

They no longer offer the Veterans Discount on wood pellets. I first noticed this last week but the cashier then rang it in manually. I wasn't as lucky today. I asked when this started and was told a couple of weeks ago.

I drove around the back of the store and they had well over a 100 tons that were tagged and waiting for delivery. I was able to find my 3 tons and they are Blazers. (Phew). The shroud that OWP uses to cover their product is very flimsy. The print on the bags underneath it can be easily read, unlike other brands. So I'm concerned about water damage. In fact when I was loading my 5 bags into a cart, one of the bags, from the middle of a pallet, ripped at the top seam and the product inside was nothing but wet sawdust. A lot of the bags were wet to the touch. Seeing how mine aren't getting delivered for another month, I could have a problem.

I went to the same HD as Sub did today. I picked up another 15 bags of Blazers. A clerk loaded my van for me. He said they anticipated being out of stock by this evening. The next pellets due in are to be firesides softies. There's should be $30 more per ton. As sub said, no veteran discount. I can still get MWP at Walmart for $219
I'm feeling fortunate that I still can get really good pellets without hyperinflated prices for my p68. So far my plan is working to use what I can buy and keep the four tons as back up for when I can't find what I want. I'm finishing up the last of the MWP that I bought last year. :binoculars:

According to the HD website, the Fireside Platinum's will sell for $269. I'll be going to Walmart next week to buy MWP at $4.18/bag now that HD is out of Blazers

Found a knowledgeable guy at Lowes today. He told me that they are scheduled for a delivery this week, but he isn't all that optimistic. He said they've been told to expect a delivery on numerous occasions over the last 6 weeks and none have actually showed.

    HD had about 8 bags of Freedom's @ $5.19/bag.

yea, honestly, we rarely know we are getting a truck until we hear the trucker is 15 mins down the road......we've learned not to depend upon the "maybe Friday...." stuff. I can imagine its insane working at a pellet mill these days. Whoda think there might actually be a shortage this year? Mind boggling for sure......:headbang:
