I like the 70% "Probability of Above" temperatures on the Alaska map :) :) :)

Great lakes & central US, looks to be a real winter.
    Keep you wood dry !

No difference in the 3 you have listed. It gets dull quickly whenever a cold snap is coming to call it the polar vortex. It is a cold front....

Just wait until every 'polar vortex' starts getting a name. The weather channel blows.

I'm a conflicted new wood burner..lol. Can't wait for some cold now but dread the thought of snow and ice.. I drive a truck for a living pulling doubles which are tedious at best on bad roads.. I always select runs to the south down into Virginia for a lot of reasons but winter road care isn't one of them. It snows much less but an inch on 95 in Va is like a foot on the New York Thruway.. Hopefully it's cold and dry:D:D:cheers:

    40° days & 30° nights here.
Few degrees above average for this time of the year.
Back to near shoulder season burns for now.

No bit they will name all the winter storms though!!

That started a few years ago as a marketing thing and now its stuck! Winter storms use to not have names????

    40*?! It hit 33* today here. It's 27 now but there's a 40mph wind.

I agree with you Backwoods. I think the weather marketing people should hit the reset button. Hearing a polar vortex called cold snap, winter or cold weather would be a nice change.

Growing up it was a 'cold front' and/or a 'Canadian front'.

Old saying goes something like this.............................If it's warm in Alaska, it's cold in the lower 48.

So far this season I've been bringing an armload of wood in from the shed when we needed it for the chilly nights. With this cold snap that's on it's way, I decided it was time to load up the garage so I don't have to run out every day. There's about a half cord inside now. We're all set for November. :)

Because this one will be sooo bad, I-
    • Bought a new snow blower, with studded tracks.
    • Bought a new SxS with plow, 4wd, and propane sno-melt burner .
    • Enough food and fuel for 12 months
    • 1 pack of batteries
..and a few more items. Really looking forward to trying the 2-stroke hammer drill with ice chipper blade, should be fun.

naww, not really. Just a cold snap. :smoke:
