Fiber board for EP

Does anyone know where to find "herringbone" pattern fiberboard? The ones that come with the stove are the standard "horizontal" pattern brick. I've search the internet and just can't come up with anything that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I contacted Mike at Englander and he said the picture of the one that was taken of the stove on their website was actually a sample board and they don't have them.

I told Mike that same thing! I'm surprised they don't.

 

Yeah I thought about that too and that might be my way to go at this point.

 

yeah, it was a bit of a bugger. what happened is this;

we had that herringbone along with some other samples we were looking at made by different manufacturers the intent at the time we did our "marketing shots" where we have a guy from NC come up and shoot our products with a very expensive digital setup (guy costs bank and he's one which you have to schedule ahead of time as its a ways for him to come up. we had intended to go with this pattern but the supplier blew up the price, so we went with the vendor who supplied the standard pattern by that time we had shot the pictures. actually i dont think anyone noticed until after some time when we started getting the occasional call on it

 

Please, please start carrying these!!! Well, at a good price though, you know us pigs are cheeeeeeeeeeap!!!! lol

 

well "price point" was the reason we went with what we chose in the end, guy wanted too much for the herringbone.

part of what we do annually is a line review, other companies compete for "coveted" bids in order to stay below the competition you have to be able to supply stoves at the best wholesale price, now an extra 10-20 bucks or so per stove doesn't seem like much but it can make or break you with a mass merchant, especially when they are buying several thousand, if a competitor undercuts your cost you could lose the account which is millions. it adds up.

i could check on the availability of a herringbone back panel, but when you deal with these guys you have to order a minimum quantity or they wont talk to you, we might have to order a couple thousand just to carry them (and they would be more expensive) such is the process when dealing with vendors on the scale they are used to working on.

FWIW i loved the look of the herringbone, i wish it would have worked out that we could have gone with that pattern, just wasn't going to happen at the price they were asking for it

 

I would DEFINITELY love one for my stove so if it ever happens, please keep me in mind.
