Got a small little load of locust this morning off craigslist. Was a real easy score as it was stacked up on the parking strip off the road in Seattle. Pulled right up to it and loaded it up easy peasy So as you know we do not have alot of hard woods out here, and this is my first time dealing with locust, C/L ad said it is black locust, If that is the case I would of thought I would see a dark colored heart wood in the center? This is all a yellowish color. I looked up locust on the btu charts and they show a black and a honey, both with a nice btu rating. I am hoping this is indeed locust but truthfully i do not know what do you guys think
Thinking little less than a 1/2 cord this truck holds about a cord if it is loaded up to the top of rails for full length of bed

I get all my wood off C/L, some is easier than others but its all free. I am actually an easy 3 years ahead right now, all from C/L
Save that locust for the coldest/worstest days y'all see out there. That'll make you see why we like it so much this way!!!
What's your climate like? But if given the chance 3 + years will give the best results. However in certain conditions 1-2 years are acceptable. But since your on the 3 year program sit her out and wait, it will pay off. IMO
wow 3 years huh!! I need to find an area to stack it at, all my stacking areas are full as i live in the city on a small lot. I'll get creative and find someplace, its only about 1/2 a cord. I want to get it seasoned asap
Most of the BL I've gotten has been dead, some of it on the ground with no bark and at 16% moisture. I really don't have too much experience drying it but I'll be burning some this season that's been it the stack 2 yrs, so I'll get a better idea of how it dries. You see some folks posting that BL is hard to start, then others will comment that they have no problem with it, saying it needs to be real dry...
