    but a good tight grain usually means high BTUs.

    Yeah I won't be much help on this one. Bradford pear seems like a good match for the bark, and its popular as an ornamental, which could be why you'd find it in the city, but I wouldn't find it in my woods.

    I've heard it has a nice smell to it. Supposed to be mid range BTU, but not quite as good as native fruit woods.
