Seems there are at least a couple ranches in the Traverse City area, and my brother and I stopped at one today so I could take a pic or two (House rule).
I used to harvest one cow a year from a ranch in Hartsel. Got too expensive to continue that practice but I do miss the meat. Good stuff.
I asked an englishman what the difference was between a buffalo and a bison...he told me "you can't wash your hands in a buffalo"
Many moons ago there was a fellow, Don was his first name and I'm ashamed that right now his last name doesn't come to me because we used to do some business with him. He had a couple grocery stores. Buffalo were his hobby and he did get into some trouble in TC once when some got out and wrecked a couple police cars. He moved most to the UP but they are gone now. Not sure what ever happened to them but he is no doubt very old now or perhaps gone up to that happy buffalo land in the sky. EDIT: Don Olson.
The only buffalo I've seen in TC are next to the Great Wolf Lodge, but unless they bulldozed half that area in the past month that picture must be from somewhere else. I wasn't aware of any buffalo ranches in that area. Kinda cool.
