Anyone who wants to do a quality job without a bunch of extra mashing of teeth, needs them.

Unfortunately. I think I'm going to need that. I tried a bottom end once. It never spun loose. Well finally got a project 362xp running. I need a new piston. I don't know if the jug can be saved. Looks like 2 mm of plating peeled above the exhaust. I will post some pics if you all want. Here is when it happened yes caught it on video. any one have any advice or parts to help. Just a bad night for tinkering.

I don't know about corners, but I will also employ those very same alternative methods when necessary. Takes me more time to do the job and I always worry more but 'ya gotta do what ya gotta do".

Kevin, I got what you meant, what I meant is no one has to be in a corner becuse of the methods they employ or their process to get the job done! It took both you and I years to learn what alternative methods work the best, some of the folks here may have never attempted to repair a saw.

Not really THAT expensive, if you do it as needed over time. The problem is that some of the tools because of their design wear over time and must be replaced. An example is any one of the 4-5 case splitters, the conical centring collar on the pin becomes worn after many uses and makes it difficult to use. The centering collar is made of softer metal than the crankshaft so as not damage the crank, however this makes it wear quickly.

Anyone know if the 395 crank install tool will work on the 3120? Didn't see the 3120 listed as compatible

Adam, the part number for the 394/3120 is 502 50 30-08 my guess is the 395 uses the same tool. Same PN for the 281/288.

Thank you Tim, just ordered it. That same number was listed in the 3120 manual, but the description was "seal installer" dealer confirmed puller
