Thanks for the link...that is a very nice door!! Does it have any adjustability or does your opening have to be perfect? Also if you don't mind me asking, what size is the shower?? I think I will use a tile-redy base as it seems easier to get the slope to the drain correct. My wife (she's a bit older than me) has a granddaughter in the band at OU.
There is no adjustability to the door. It's one piece of glass with two brass hinges and a handle and a clear plastic swipe on the bottom of the door. Your opening should be a square as possible and then when ordering they ask you for the inside dimensions of the opening top and bottom side to side, and top and bottom side to side. If your not quite square, they cut the glass to fit the hole. They also calculate the gap between the door and the opening. Mine fits tight, maybe an 1/8" clearance on both sides and I left about 5" open on the top for the steam to escape. There is a little adjustability for where you attach your hinges, but not much, maybe an 1/8"? If you go this route, make sure you have doubled up the framing around the sides of the door, since the screws to hold the hinges are 3.5" long and there's a lot of weight hanging off those hinges. Probably would be a good idea to talk with the shower door company on the front end as they can provide some advice on the opening and structure design. I fit the shower to the size of the room and the space I had available. It's big. Inside dimensions are roughly 60" X 42" and the door is 33" wide. My kids call it the "magical shower" and don't want to use the other bathrooms any longer! I have the instructions for the shower door install, I can email to you if your interested. Just send me a PM.
I had a large shower at my old home, what a luxury to dry off inside it in the warmth. Enjoy! Well, try to enjoy it if you ever get a turn in between the kids and wife
Just looked at this thread Fan, that's really nice. I know oh to well how the projects grow in size, cost and difficulty over what you had in your head to start with.
Nice, too nice to "dirty up"! That's the kind of bathroom I like, the color of the tiles are perfect.
