This was the biggest Ive done yet. Pin oak, 40"+ the pallet rack is loaded with splits from one round. Got a lot of splits out of that round but also split a little smaller at the time then I do now.
That really show how much wood a huge round can turn out to be. Never get that back in a 40" circle , (more than 11 cubic feet of stacked firewood there) Keep them coming, Can't imagine a 40" straight grained ash, a huge cross stack of 4"x4" splits , 10' high LOL .
"Can't imagine a 40" straight grained ash, a huge cross stack of 4"x4" splits , 10' high LOL ." ... easy there Dave... yer gonna pass out...
LOL Since neck surgery (2 fused discs) , I can't look straight up without leaning back, I'd at least fall over backward trying to see the top . LOL
My record splits from one round happened would have happened many moons ago when I had a job cutting cedar shake block out of old first growth trees on Vancouver island. All the trees we ever worked on were at least 6 ft diameter, some we measured were 14 ft. But alas, that was about 36 years ago and no pictures, so I guess it didn't happen.
True But it's harder to notch & back-cut a 20" with a 16". I like the reach of the 20" too, Less bending it reach the ground & for liming. Personal preference I guess.
