With the little one and all the stuff we take when we travel the Toy Highlander is getting cramped.

I was Interested in the suburban but the wife does not want one she thinks its too big. The mpg is so similar to the Tahoe that it really makes no difference there.

We like TOY but there not many Sequoias uses for sale that are 8-10 yrs old which is what were looking g for.

After quickly looking at some 05 Tahoes and Expeditions we lime the layout and the third row is so much better in the Does than the Chevy. I think she wants an Expedition now and looks like that will be the choice.

Any thoughts on Expeditions for. The 04-06 vintage? We had either an 05/06 at work. It was a base model but think it worked well and was reliable for the 70k miles or so we had them .

Anybody with one or close family? That actually has over 100k miles on them? It doesnt really matter to me what their 2010 or whatever with 40k miles has done as that is no miles and a different truck.

Were these the years with the AL heads that stuck plugs if not changed regular...believe so.

My close family has been on expeditions before. I believe we drove an Explorer and Pathfinder on those trips.

Looks like we have a good derail in progress...

What does tires have to do with the vehicle? Just honestly? It will have whatever we buy it with and then whatever I can get a good deal on when I replace them. Got a buddy that works at a dealer and he gets pretty good deals so that may be the place to buy them.

Ford makes a good vehicle. I have had several Ford trucks, same thing as Expedition, just different back instead of bed. Reliable. Check. Crappy gas mileage. Check.

My family and I are in the same boat. I think we are going to get a Ford Flex in the spring. It has a ton of space inside. Good luck with your shopping..

The fuel mileage is only 1mpg on paper less than similar chevies. And this is as reported on fuel economy.gov so its an unbiased reporting site.

Fuel is terrible with any of them. But to put it into perspective. Solid hwy driving yields 21mpg in the highlander. Going to town on the highway and riding the few stoplights we hit and such we get 19mpg. When I pull the small 4x8 trailer I get 17-19mpg on the highway trips in the toy depending upon weight in trailer so I am not getting much better. The Expedition will get 16-17 on highway trips and maybe 15 going to town.

If it were In The budget i would get newer as they have improved the MPG but on a single Income there is not room for a payment like that!!

All the big vehicles have crappy gas mileage in my opinion. My wife has an 06 Honda Pilot and loves it. But that won't give you much more room than your Toyota Highlander. I have always wanted a Suburban. But I need the truck bed, so have never gone with one. Probably will some day when I am tired of doing so much work. I have driven an Expedition before but never owned one. I liked it, ride was great, comfy. A friend of mine had one for several years but ended up changing to an Avalanche. Again, the need for the truck bed.

The bed is a non issue. I have 2 other trucks that are used as trucks when needed.

No insight on the vehicle, just make sure your wife can drive a large vehicle!

She had an extended cab 1500 when hers was wrecked. Also parents had an 04 tahoe and she could drive it way better than her mom! Mom had no idea when she was about to hit something or not
