Went to a bon fire/hayride party last night at the neighbors. He asked me if I needed a place to cut wood. I have a few places already, but none I can really just go to alone. I told him I could always use a place to cut and he said I could go to his 40 acres of woods about two miles down the road and cut all the dead/down I want.

Haven't been over there to check it out, but I doubt it'll disappoint. Might try to go for a walk later on.

Two miles away is just about perfect. I hope you find a good mixture of species there and NO willow... 40 acres, that's a find!

Yeah, I'm excited to go see it. I could take some pics if y'all are into that sort of thing.

I had to get in there pretty deep to find what I was looking for. In this pic I am standing in the middle of about 100 dead ash trees ranging from 6~12" diameter. Trail goes most of the way there, and I think I can get the truck fairly close. I really need an FEL. IMAG0660.jpg

I only covered about half the property, but I'm not sure I can get in any farther with the truck.

Saw a couple tree stands back there so I need to check with him to find out if they're supposed to be there and if he wants me to wait until deer season is over, but it's mine to cut on then for sure. Doesn't matter anyway, I'm cutting ash now for next year, and have enough oak stacked for 16/17. He also has another 10 acres or so right across the street from me I can cut on now without hunters.

    Super deluxe score .
    Prime wood too.
Looks like level ground, should be able to get/drive just about anywhere.
If ok with the owner to make a couple trails :)

That's one heck of a score! You could probably give that oak 5 years now!

You can keep that EAB over there though plz. My woods is going to look like that if that thing ever gets here. It dominates the low spots on my property, and my neighbor's woods that I cut on has a solid 5 acre stand of them.
