Cutting wood last night and came across a 4ft or so section in a birch log that had a green center? About 2" in the center. I saved a piece, maybe will put in through the wood mizer. Any ideas what is up with it? I've cut close to 1000 cords of firewood over the last 3 years and never gave seen this before.
I'd guess bacteria/mold, see it sometimes in a rotten log when cutting down stuff. Iv'e seen several different colors of molds. Give Alaska Forestry a call.
I know metal usually shows up black/blue and runs the whole tree length but this forester is grasping at twigs here ????
But copper kills plant life and bacteria. Copper in a tree will kill it. This clearly doesnt look dead so I dunno? Or was is dead Nate. I thought of CU as well but it kills plant life.
Alien firewood. The men in black will be knocking on your door any minute to transport you to area 51 for de-briefing
