sorry blue vomit, needs 3 summers! this stuff has been double stacked and top covered for 2.5 years.
this is why i dont like ash: the lines dribbling down my glass are actually from a load of ash that had been stacked for a year. as low of a MC that stuff starts at, i guess it still needs more than a year to season right. i dont think i get great btus out of it either. shooting for predominatly oak and black birch from now on with a little bit of black locust in the mix when i can it.

Maybe I'm lucky to not have all the wood varieties.
    I burn 3 + year birch.

Only have to learn how to season 1 type :)

Hmm my ash is all bone dry and burn able in 1 year easy. I do dry for far longer than that now but their was a time I couldn't. One thing with Ash is the ash lol it really builds up compared to others but it throws great heat and my stove is clean as a whistle after words. Around here we get so much because of the eab killing off almost Ash every tree in southern Michigan the last few years.

I just got 2 cords of dead standing chestnut oak which is part of the white oak family. I have it all split and stacked now, haven't bothered taking a moisture reading yet. I'm going to monitor over the course of next summer and fall, if it needs it, it will sit for 2 summers. Burned some well seasoned red oak I had to purchase last year in my open hearth and loved it, threw so much heat. Can't wait to experience some white oak.

    Looks good Reaper.
I just don't have the time or patience to wait 3 years for wood to dry.
