To make things easier, I hooked up straps to the logs and drug them up the hill with the powerful grizzly.Much easier than rolling the rounds up hill.

The strap I use is rated for some crazy number of tonnage.... don't remember. Its holding up well, but, I only pulled up 3 logs after rolling them up started sucking. I will pick up a ts and dshackles once I finally get a winch.

I've got one that looks similar and it's rated for something like 33k lbs :eek:Don't know if I'd push it that far, but they're robust for sure

Thx, its always nice getting help! Ive considered the 4 way, but haven't picked one up. I tend to be pretty efficient with the single wedge.

    Do you have one?

It sure is nice getting help. You get so much done with a helping hand. I just ordered a slip on 4way from ebay should have it by next week. It's the swisher 22ton one. It looks strong so I'll see how it works once I get it..

Sounds good. Give us a review after awhile. I for one would be interested in hearing some pros & cons.

Yes sir, and I have stiff muscles to prove it. Lots more to do. A couple logs of oak still-no problem, the ash & hickory will be very tricky.

20141020_190651.jpg I bucked all but one 5'length of pin oak and had my son roll them closer to the processing area. Fire pit area finally clear! This weekend we will redo the fire pit into something a little better.....

Yes Keith arbor day farm & lodge are here in Nebraska . Nebraska City , Nebr. Actually.
Lots of apple orchards around the area. Once in a while I run across some old apple trees.
Good fire & smoking wood. Smells wonderful as you would expect.
Never had any big rounds like I see posted by moderator Well Seasoned. Largest apple round that I ever had was about 18 inches. Think that the tree only gave me 5 or 6 big rounds.:sherlock:

Wow! That's a lot of wood. I really like the shot of the quartered hickory, that's going to be a treat to burn.

Your lucky to have Dawn to help you do all that stacking. :) Looking forward to seeing pics of those new stacks.

Any guess to how much wood your going to get total?

    Thanks!

    estimates:

    Oak- 1.5 cords
    Ash- 1 cord
Hickory- 2.5 cords...difficult area to cut in. I will need to post pictures and advice on dealing with this.

That's quite a bit more than I was expecting! That should help shore up the 3 year plan for sure. :)

That's a bunch of hickory too. :smoke: I never seem to land all that much hickory for some reason, probably only have about a face cord total in my stacks.
