Finally got to really see how this torque monster can run. I've only ran the 038 mag with the 28" bar one time. After dropping this monster yesterday I was all smiles. I've never dropped anything close to this size before, but there was nothing but forest around if something went wrong. My heart was racing, adrenaline pumping, forearms aching, and she landed perfect. It was awesome! I dropped this for a guy that had sized it up a few times, but never committed to (he thought he could possibly have done it with an 028, 18" lol). This guy is four miles from my house and has 80 acres for cutting. I've been looking for a good in, and I think this was it..
Nice work there pyro! That 038 Mag is a great saw. I had one myself for awhile but ended selling it in favor of keeping my 440 & 460.
I've got enough stashed from various saw deals and pocket change to get a new 441cm, or maybe a 461. Opinions welcome. But after seeing how that 038 mag did really buried in the wood I don't really think it's a necessity. Still probably gonna get one though.
I'd get one of the newer ones too, but still keep the 038 as your "backup" big saw. You gotta have a backup plan.
I got some already, and am getting the whole trunk after I pull my splitter out there. Most of all I got a new place to cut out of the deal.
If you look on top of the stump you'll see the wood wedge I had to cut real quick to get it to go over. My three little felling wedges weren't quite enough so had to improvise. Should have saved it for next time, lol.
