Picked. Up a load of split wood from my cutting buddies on the way home. Split and ready to load!! All white oak.
AWESOME score; White Oak is top BTU wood. Dry enough to burn? OK. if already cut & split .......... What's the saw for ?
Nah its pretty much green. Sat in a dump pile most of the summer we cut it about 3 months ago at least in 95f heat. Just split the last week or so. This is 2 yrs out wood. Wondered if anyone would notice that You know your a saw nut if you carry a saw around with you just in case! I take one to work with me just cause as a forester and riding in a truck I can get away with that and not be looked at as too crazy!!
That and there is nothing left to cut in my yard. I wanted to stop by an old log deck and make some cookies as a test after fine tuning the Carb.
I found 4 more trees in the woods to cut. White oak that is. One is bigger than convenient so it may just stay there? He told me to get another split load but I think that's more than my share so I may just get a partial load latter this week. Baby due this week. Trying to bring all the lost shoulders home this week so I can stack while at home!!
Nice load of white oak! I split lots of that stuff and hate how stringy it can be. Its worth it in the end though!
3 things that are always in my truck when I leave home - at least 1 saw,log chain & my camera. White Oak can be stringy at times unless its really fresh or frozen- Just finished up splitting the last of 3 loads of 2 year dead that was dropped in July-August. And I don't own a hydro splitter either.
