Today is Canadian TG? If I'd known, I woulda' cooked a turkey. Happy Thanksgiving to all ya' all up there.
Yes, I hope everyone is having a Happy Thanksgiving Day or for our American friends, it is Columbus Day. So far this weekend, we have had two turkey dinners. that I didn't have to cook. I think we are going to have steak this afternoon.
Happy Thanksgiving to all you fine neighbors up there. I just hope you didn't buy ALL our turkeys down here! LOL
Not to worry, I think you will find that there are still large numbers of turkeys in your area.........
You are right. I just looked at a bunch on the way home last night. Several toms in there. Whole bunches of turkeys in several groups.
I don't know about Black Tuesday as we don't shop on those kind of events. I just know that after this weekend, lots of Christmas stuff will be showing up in the larger stores. they used to wait until after Halloween but not now. Really pushing the commercial season. It is a shame that this particular seasonal celebration has turned into a make or break profit line for so many businesses. Acknowledging our creator and what he has done for us and fellowship among family and friends is far down the scale in the business world. (Sorry for the rant. It is a pet peeve of mine)
The stores have Christmas stuff out after July 4th here in the US. It's getting really bad now. I noticed the numerous toy shelves are going up. I stopped buying presents for Christmas and instead bring food items to parties. People may think I am a Grinch but I can't stand the commercialism of it all.
Before I started working full time, I made a lot of the presents we gave out. I still try to make some gifts like the socks my SIL and daughter love. Each of our daughters make gifts as well if they have the time. We have never been a family which have gone overboard on gifts. In fact under the tree is usually a gift that didn't quite get finished before opening time and it will get finished during that day or shortly afterward. I think I am getting a completed gift under the tree this year that wasn't quite finished last year. A cross-stitched Christmas tree skirt with the Nativity on it. I am really looking forward to seeing it in its finished state.
Just seen this thread eh? Guess what i took for lunch at work today? Glad there's none left in the fridge!!
