If the handle gets tweaked it can break the tank by the front mount for the handle. Doesn't take much to require $125 tank. That's the weakest part of that series stihls.
the ms440 tanks are much stronger ,have extra webbing underneath ,than the 044 tanks ,plus they have better fuel caps i have yet to break an ms440 tank ,and i have backed into trees with the saw hanging off the back of my skid steer loader even
That huge saw makes the bar look tiny Either way that thing is a beast! Bring that with you to the next GTG. I am going to make sure we have a Cant large enough for 36" bars (30"-32" Cant) !! I plan on having a certain 90 cc C-M saw by then!!
Was hoping to have it for the last one at your place put the stars didn't align. Sounds like you may have an animal coming .
I do want to eventually port it. Right now it has a muffler mod, carb swap, and ignition timing advance. I also switched to the .050'' chain for more durability.
The one with the 261 sticker is a ported 262xp. The saw is way rich! Still pulls like crazy and has way more torque than stock. Ill make another video when i turn it up. Ported 262xp:
Here's a pic of my baby stihl And yep, that little 170 conquered that big ole load of sweetgum. Shortly after is when I bought my 291, it's a little better suited to the log loads I get now . But the 170 has been a great saw to me. Always easy to start, and now does a great job as a brush clearer or sawbuck saw for small branches. I've also been known to use it when doing "carpentry". My brand of carpentry anyways... To prove it got cut up
