Just got a call from my brother, turns out the wife of the bad neighbour that was complaining about mine and my brother's wood pile is trying to get elected to the city council tomorrow to get rid of our firewood. How petty...

I agree jack. Maybe you and your bro just need to drop a few trees in their direction.:whistle:

Would love to. The chainsmokers want to ban wood stoves because they pollute the neighborhood. Not the way I burn!

And cars, trucks, and enormous smokestacks don't. Grrrrr. Can't people just keep to themselves and go by the old adage of "NIMBY"!!!

That's frustrating. I hope all works out in your favor when the sawdust settles. I am fortunate enough that both neighbors on either side of me burn wood as well. The only thing they might have against me is the amount of wood I have compared to what they have. Hehehe. I'm double what they have. Least that's what the wife tells me. Doah!!!

Just hoping our mayor stays in power, he burns too. Not really sure how all these local politics work, but having the mayor personally affected has to be a plus.

Mean people suck. You may have to do a preemptive strike with a petition. Forcing a referendum will unseat minority policy. Or you, your bother or both may need to be part of the council.

Tell me what a minority policy and a referendum are.

Lmao. I get my gas for free thistle. So jack, just give me the address and I will take care of the rest. I have 150 acre playground and a backhoe. Best of all.... I'm real good with a backhoe. :D

The husband runs over here all the time to complain about one person or another in the neighbourhood or to try to pry into others affairs. Next time he sets foot on my property will be the last.

If a person on the council has an agenda, they may get to get it acted upon by agreeing to favor other proposals other council people put forth. Doesn't matter if it is popular or not. Should they succeed or appear to have it on the agenda, you can get a petition going. If you get enough signatures, it has to come up on a referendum. Sometime just the activity of getting a petition is enough to send a message that will get them to back off. Your town may have different methods, but these are about the most common.

What is the size of your property, Jack? Are you in a housing development?

I feel for you Jack, I've got one of those types of neighbors myself. Something I get to deal with periodically. But in my case, nothing a little 034 Stihl or splitter doesn't relieve a little stress on Saturday or Sunday morning.

It's an old house on a fairly big plot for in- town. Certainly not in a development.

When you're driving around town, make notes about every woodpile you see. Write down addresses. The homeowners will be potential allies. Your Plan A is, of course, to hope your neighbor doesn't get elected. Plan B is to talk to the other members of the new council about your concern, and illustrate for them the number of constituents that would be very unhappy about the restrictions you suspect this person hopes to push through. One councilperson can't enact laws by him or herself, and if the rest of the council sees that such changes might be politically costly then your neighbor probably won't get the help she needs.

Jesus, that chit would make me lose my mind if that were the case, we intentionally avoided developments and HOAs specifically so we would not have to deal with petty crap like that.
