birch bark - fire starters

    Last year I chopped a bunch of birch. I removed the bark and cut it up into small fire starter. They work well using the to down method of fire starting.

    Used it camping before during wet weather. Excellent fire starter!

    Birch bark is amazing stuff......I'm using some right now for SS wood that I cut back in early April and I'm amazed at how fast it lights up on a bed of hot coals.

    I've heard that back when, some pranksters would induce someone to climb a golden birch, then light the bark below him.

    Definition of a dilemma. :bug:
