I used to play everyday back in HS. Had a math teacher who was crazy about it, she'd give us our lesson for 20 minutes, and we'd spend the rest of the class playing euchre. I love the game. When I met my wife's family for the first time when we were dating, it was at a family euchre tournament. We'd have like 7 games going at a time, and they took things very seriously. Well I ended up winning the whole thing, beating my wife's dad and uncle by a few points. While they were adding up the points some of the aunts were telling me (only half joking I think) that I should just go ahead and sneak out the door while I could since both those guys were carrying hand guns. Apparently I was the first non-family member to ever win the tournament in like 15 years. In the end I think they accepted me more because of it, but they sure didn't make me feel like it at the time!
Used to play it a lot, now only a few times a year. We always play 'screw the dealer' to keep things more interesting.
Grew up with it. When I went to college it was the game everyone played. Kind of died out now with other card games. Hopefully, it will come back in a resurgence.
Love the game learned it from my Canadian side of the family and over there if you order up your partner you go alone so you better have some aces and a bower
Unless you cannot avoid it (reneging or unbeatable hand), that practice will get you beat up around here!!!
