Can't beat $20 for a saw made in the USA 1976 - not a commemorative edition or anything, but the last of the metal cased Skilsaws. Complete with original metal box, rip fence, wrench, and a about a dozen blades - some still in their original cardboard packaging.
The rest of the place was plates(1000's of them) cups, collectibles, dolls. It was a cool log cabin with a big old woodstove - I started to checkout the name plate and got distracted by an old iron - $120:eek:
I did see a box full of Avon stuff - sitting on top was a box of men's aftershave "Potbelly Stove" - in a glass bottle looking like a stove. Had it actually smelled like a woodstove and not your typical musky Italian shower - I would be wearing it with authority:rofl:

Very nice. That box is what makes it so great too. :)

Looks like it's before 3 prong plugs and carbide blades.....

Before double insulated cases - the following year they switched to plastic molded cases. Most double insulated tools don't have ground plugs even today
There are two carbide blades in the box - those old black & decker blades in the cardboard will be cool wall fodder

Very nice. Skil brand saws these days certainly aren't the same saw they were back then

My current circular saw is a black and decker back when they made solid tools, the bearings in it are shot/have been for a while.
This is like going back in time and getting a Milwaukee for chump change

Yep. I had an older craftsman for years that always worked great. Then I lost track of the cord making some cuts and cut the cord in half :rofl:

My other power tools are dewalt, so I'm thinking I'll go with them for a new one

I don't know all the details of who owns who, but Dewalt is branded under the crown of B&D, Skil, and probably a few others IIRC
I have an old dewalt drill that is still going and I bought a refurbished 12" sliding compound miter saw when I resided the house - neither has missed a beat

Yes, I believe B&D merged with Stanley, and owns Dewalt as well as porter cable. All of them used to make quality tools, but Stanley and B&D have been watered down. Porter cable is a good middle of the road brand for homeowners. All the dewalt stuff I've had is still high quality contractor grade stuff. I have their 20v drill and impact driver and I LOVE them. They've done some serious work for me and never given me a problem

My 1985 model 77 worm drive commercial skilsaw has been used hard since new,but still works great. With the proper blade I 've cut anything from 1/4" Plexiglas to 2"+ laminated planks, granite & limestone with it.

Its heavy, around 16 pounds (newer models are a pound or two less) but wont bog down in hardly anything.

I have Bosch,Porter Cable,Milwaukee,Skil from the mid-late 80's & Dewalt from mid-late 90's (what used to be called Black & Decker Industrial & black & grey/silver in color) before everything changed. The quality went down after all the different mergers IMO

Nice find. I have a skil saw of that vintage also. It was my grandfathers. I'm sure that saw will last me for most, if not all of my life.

I'll keep my old B&D for cutting concrete pavers - still has ~1/2" of brush left . That sucker built a dozen+ large decks and a lot of work during my residing project - no telling what my uncle put it through before handing it off to me

I don't want to start a debate but my Porter Cable routers are way above middle of the road, high quality contractor grade

I believe it. By brother has a very nice porter cable router. They're still making some top of the line routers

I was referring more to their other power tools like drills, drivers, circular saws, etc. Sorry if I offended
