Got home late afternoon yesterday and hit it hard. 2 loads cut and hauled home by 7. Mostly cherry with a little sugar maple and red elm that I found off to the side. 2nd load just tossed off in the dark after dinner. Felt good to be out there.
Looks like ya got some nicely seasoned wood in those stacks. Nice haul too! Two of my favorites! Never tried the red elm; but I hope to get my hands on some - love the look of it. I'd like to mill some into lumber.
I bet. A good work out , will help to get you ready for winter. Bet it's nice to see & smell some fresh cut rounds .
There's a corn maze about 5 miles from here, maybe I should put a flyer up there and invite them down to the firewood maze, help pay for the gas and oil to cut it.
Red elm is pretty good firewood, I don't get much of it as most elm I run into around here is american elm.
I'll be working some of that up soon. Caught a nice whiff this morning of the red pine I've been working on. What a change from that stinking sumac that's been sitting in the driveway waiting to go over to my buddy's house for campfires. Couldn't give that stuff away fast enough.
It was a roadside scrounge from the same place I got the Saturn load of BL. Smells like cow chit, but worse.
Same around here LP with the Red Elm, not alot of it but what I have had in the past I like how it burns. Thanks for the pics and looks like a little splitter time now.
Nice work L.P., in the northeast the weather has cooled off which makes it nice for working in the woods, what do you have for temps?
60's during the day and 40's at night this week. Sat. night calling for frost and low 30's then back up to low 70's and rain early next week so they say. I'm going to move my wood up on the patio soon, usually put about 1 cord up. I have 2 racks that I fill for the ends then stack between them, might be odd but I always put fresh cut and split stuff on the racks so when I look out the door in the winter it looks good.
