Interesting concept. Too bad the stuff we got at work is perforated for easy tearing. I think it would work better then the usual plastic. His numbers weren't bad. Bonus insulation in each bubble. Interesting......
I just ordered some in-- I plan on doing all the downstairs windows with bubble wrap and regular plastic. damm antique glass...
You'll def notice a difference. After last year's brutal winter..... I have plastic leftover, but will probably use some bubble wrap on a few.
I hope so. Still hoping to get the three windows in the living room changed out but having trouble finding the time to get to the big box stores.
Thats interesting...will be looking forward to your findings. I like looking out my windows, not sure I could do it.
Whatever it takes! I had sheets and blankets over certain window and doors at my old place. I wasn't to worried about solar gain. I just didn't want to get frostbite walking past a window.
Not bubble wrap but I made these interior storm windows, the work very well and are inexpensive. They are almost unnoticeable.
Nice. As I replace windows I have been taking paynes out of the old ones and installing them in the remaining windows to make them more airtight.
@SmokyTheBear has made inside plastic storms. I think he is impressed with the results. His home is fairly new so these are in addition to his insulated glass.
Do you qualify for govt weatherization asst? In ohio, a family of 4 below 50k household income can get a ton.
The glass is fine on my windows, but the frames leak a bunch. If it's windy dust/silt gets blown in between teh upper and lower window panels. Thought about putting up the plastic, but it's easier tho through wood in teh stove instead. I burn maybe 3.5 cords max a year so I guess that's not too bad. Does chew through the wood quick at -20*, luckily we don't get more than a week or so of that.
