I think they've had it a couple months now.
They must have got it days after I shipped my Ideal back for a rebuild.:hair:

Tom would probably need to hire 3 more people to replace her!

What's the experience / expectation with a rebuild?
    Any sort of recommended interval?

I thought my stove was 4 years old, but I bought it before my daughter was born and she's a first grader now!
I think taking it in for a tune up at the end of the season might be a good idea.

Happen to check out the price for the IS cat, OUCH! They have had some hefty price increases since I purchased my last one.

I'm sure supply/demand and materials are up exponentially for them this year. Hope they weather the storm. Good folks up there at Woodstock....

so you must have the cast iron frame for the ceramic cats? I wonder if you can still get them? Does Midwest show how to wrap those cats in the gasket? I think you also use tape to hold it together?

I have a spare cast frame and will probably save a few bucks and order a ceramic to keep on the shelf. My steel cat has 1.5 years on it and seems to be working fine. It usually cruises around 1000 degrees on a low burn.

Yes you need the frame, but what I have noticed for these new cats is they have a really strong outside frame so the inside is nicely protected. The outside frame keeps the ceramics right where they want to be to capture any smoke and turns it into heat inside the stove to warm the house.
