How are everyone’s vegetable gardens doing? We are a little dry, but it sure beats too much rain. Beans, herbs, summer squash, potatoes, onions, peppers and tomatoes are all producing well this year.

Today was a good day to harvest my sweet potatoes. These vines are crazy, never saw anything like it. I removed several like that too.

Oh, forgot. Yesterday I harvested my one jalapeño plant. This is after I already got about 25 peppers off of it. 1/2 of a 5 gallon bucket full.

Composting is one of my interests. It reminds me of alchemy…turning “waste” into the black gold that I use in growing a significant amount of our yearly food.

I also think of it as the hoarding solar energy; because like firewood the plants/trees that comprise it are fueled by photosynthesis.

This current pile is staring to heat up, and will peak around 150f for a few turns before it goes dormant for winter, then heat right back up the spring after it gets my accumulation of ice fishing remains added to the center in late March/early April.

This is the latest we have gotten this many tomatoes going into November.
