Well, it's that time of year again.

A few cedar scraps from the mill to get it going then a mixture of slab wood.
Not too bad at 45 here so just enough to take the chill off.

58 at 5:15 this morning. Still haven’t had a first fire for the season. I typically try to hold off until Halloween at least, so I guess I made it. Waiting for a couple soap stones for the stove. When they get here I’ll take it apart, install them and new gaskets and a couple other parts. Cleaned the chimney a couple weekends ago.

Temps in the 30’s overnight. 63 inside so I lit up a full firebox full of chestnut oak this morning.

We're in the midst of some mild temps here. 40's and 50's for high temps for the next couple of weeks!

Currently 61 and breezy with 0.08" of drizzle. Should not be too bad of a day.

First day where it feels like a typical fall. Gray, breezy, and a sprinkle every so often. 59*.

Lighting the boiler, bringing it up to temp, and turning it back of every other day. The house doesn't need heat yet but the free hot water is nice and the heat loss from the water heater and piping is just enough to take the chill off the basement.
