I’ve been planning to build a house for a few years now. It’s been a process to have the land surveyed, apply for a zoning change, deal with the county etc but we’ve finally started. As we got started and began having materials delivered, it dawned on me that the first thing I bought for the house wasn’t lumber, nails, concrete or plywood. The first thing I bought was a new stove! A Woodstock Progress Hybrid. I actually bought it last Spring during the end of season sale. It was the first thing purchased and will be one of the last things to install. It’s hard to have patience!
Completely normal. But “Normal” is a setting on a laundry machine! The Progress Hybrid is a great heater, loved mine for the years I had it. No stove now but house is not well set up for one.
Sounds exciting. Keep us posted and share pics if ya can. Couple years ago the house across the road from us was demo’d after being hit by a car. They just broke ground 2 days ago.
X2! Mike is 100% on it! I even have "Back up stoves" to look at, Just in case... Just in case now....
only problem I see is, you said nothing about FIREWOOD! Before building the house, OR installing the stove is, Hoarding firewood!
We Built our house 10 years ago. I purchased the wood stove two years before we moved in. Found a good deal and kept stove in storage until builder was ready. While waiting for house to be completed, I cut, split and stacked wood on the propery from hardwoods cleared for construction. I had about two years' worth of firewood before we moved in.
We spent more time debating the wood stoves for our new build than we did the floor plan, siding, roof, doors, windows, anything. Hard to make a choice on something when you can’t see the space and don’t know how much heat you need!
