Not sure. This one is a 20'. My 22' tilt has axles close together. Keeping them closer together causes less scrub on the rear tires when turning...there's probably some advantage to spacing them out but I don't know what it is.

This pic in no way qualifies fully for the thread, but grabbed this one row “score” of apple Saturday my nephew split this past winter for us, from my BIL’s vacation place down the road…

Shh, looks like a full load so it's a full load, right?

I've noticed backing up that the tires scrub more than on previous trailers. They can get away with putting them further apart because they use torsion axles vs leaf spring axles. Wasn't sure about using torsion springs on a heavier trailer but everyone I talked to said it's not uncommon and will provide a better ride. Guess Airstream has been using torsion axles for a very long time without any issues.

Torsion axles do ride a little better, but mostly when they are unloaded. Slipper spring is stronger, spread the load on both axles better, and parts are way more common and easy to get if you need to replace something.

I've never had a torsion spring equipment trailer so I don't really know how much better they actually ride.

My preference was / is a slipper spring setup. Those 7k torsion axles are about 1k a shot if they need replaced vs hundreds of dollars (maybe even less) to fix a slipper spring setup.

I'd been looking for good used deck over trailer for a long time when this one came up on marketplace. They are either beat to ..... or you can buy a new one for what they are selling a halfway decent used one for. This one was pretty much brand new, exactly what I wanted, and he was selling it for a fair price. That combination of the three is pretty rare on marketplace from what I've found personally.

I picked up some free Ash wood about two blocks from home and give it to my brother. I forgot to get a photo when the trailer was full but here is one of us unloading. I will bring the splitter over soon, he already had some other wood to split so we better get it done. IMG_7989.jpeg

If my brother brought me a load like that, I'd be smiling ear to ear as well.

Nope, my buddy & I made a ramp off the driver’s side of the tailgate to the naturally taller portion of the yard, which isn’t as easy to see in this pic. I did unload all of it at the house by myself though…

Limb wood from a locust atop mostly 19” diam. cherry.
Here’s the cherry unloaded at the splitting area in the backyard… Notice the foot of the splitter on the right.
