Not a lot of meat on a regular flying squirrel but one of those would fill a crock pot! Ages ago on a trip home on leave for Thanksgiving with the folks, my stepdad and I went deer hunting. We didn't see any deer however I bagged a couple gray squirrels. A bunch of us had been doing a lot of squirrel hunting in NC where I was stationed and I had developed a taste for squirrel stew. I decided to up the ante while at my folks and cooked the squirrels on a rotisserie. Somewhere I have a picture of it, and they looked awesome, nice and golden brown and basted to perfection. Not sure my mother was overly thrilled about the squirrels on the same table as her turkey, but she never said anything (this is the same woman who I remember skinning and butchering black bear when my father brought home the annual harvest back in the late sixties-early seventies).

I've always said " You have 2 options, get old, or don't." "While #1 is somewhat less than optimal, it still beats #2." None of us will be here forever, but what we do while we are here, can (hopefully) carry on for decades, or preferably generations.

Wow. Just goes to show those Russian boars are no joke. My uncle bagged one about 40-something years ago with a handgun (.44 magnum). It took all six rounds plus one more from a guide's gun to drop it (all but one round were to the front because it charged after the first shot). He said if he ever went again, he wasn't taking anything less than a 454 casull (unfortunately he never did go after a boar again).
