(NASDAQ Global Select: SWBI), a leader in firearm manufacturing and design, today announced it has acquired Savage Arms, Inc., the 132-year-old Westfield, Massachusetts-based maker of legendary rifles and shotguns, from JDH Holdings, for $160 million in a stock and cash transaction. The acquisition brings together two of the most recognized and respected names in American firearms manufacturing – uniting Smith & Wesson's strength in the handgun, revolver, and modern sporting rifle markets with Savage's reputation for accuracy, innovation, and craftsmanship in the hunting and long-gun categories. The combined company will immediately rank as the largest commercial firearms manufacturer in the United States, with a full-line product offering spanning handguns, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, and suppressors. Savage brings roughly $160 million annual net sales and a dedicated, skilled workforce of approximately 500 to the Smith & Wesson family, strengthening the combined company's position at a moment when consumer demand for American-made firearms across every category remains strong.
I'm not saying all of their rifles are good shooters, but *most of the ones I have encountered are. Had a good experience with the customer service last year.
Don’t like it. Smith didnt do anything good when they acquired Thompson Center. Savage made good guns for the money, hope they don’t ruin em!
I'm gonna come clean and admit that for a long time, I thought Savage was a Canadian company. It wasn't until sometime in the early 2000s that I finally realized they were American. Nobody told me they were Canukian, I guess I just must have decided they were for reasons unknown to me. I still recommend the mkii FVSR as the most accurate inexpensive 22 rifle there is. A ~$200 gun that shoots like a $700 gun. The buttstock does suck hard though.
Growing up, my brother had a composite stock -06 Savage that sure would let you know you pulled the trigger.
