I've been having morning fires to chase out any chills. Morning lows in upper 30's and low 40's. inside low 60's. I've been burning some quality splits, but mostly various chunks. I'm at the end of my "chunk season", so on to real firewood. I've got a mix of RO and BB at the far 3nd of the deck rack, with ash closer to the door. Ash is from a taken of one dead standing for a couple of years. Processed 5/25. I've not burned much ash before now. I'll be interested in seeing how it burns.
Building a fire in 3......2......1..... Just a one and done for this time of year. All small and short stuff.
35 with fog this morning. Still no rain in forecast for the next week. Weather has been great for getting crops out, but hope this drought doesn't last much longer. Maybe we'll make up for it in snow.
43 outside, burning Aspen. Interesting note about it, the ash is very heavy and dense and there’s a a lot of it. I would’ve thought it would be light and fluffy.
More Aspen today. Probably another week or 10 days worth, then switching to some punky oak. I’ll cover or put a couple totes of that inside before our next rain event.
40/63. I fired up the hho this am. Haven’t been home enough to maintain a fire. I have parents in 2 different hospitals.
