It must be a gas (LP/NG) range then? I've run two house fires (well, one "smoke in house" and one kitchen fire) caused by folks switching from electric to gas ranges. They thought they could store stuff in the bottom "drawer" on the gas stove like they did in their electric stove. But the oven burner sits right above that drawer, with an open flame to heat the oven. So it works great as a broiler, but not so great for storage of combustible kitchen wear and such.
We have an electric range and that bottom drawer is a "warming drawer"...works great to warm plates, or keep cooked food warm longer without over cooking it so fast
Unreal, this home is less than 2 years old, the dryer needed repaired, and now the dishwasher quit. (It'll run for a few minutes then stop, yep, we ran through all the trouble shooting). Seems the "tech" that does all appliances for our property mgt co, (same guy that fixed the dryer), has issues showing up for appointments. Also, who does an entire house in flat paint over drywall-no texture? Even leaning our new headboard that is totally upholstered in fake short velvety stuff left a mark (while assembling it new, clean, out of the box, all sealed). Not sure what I'll start with around the most used light switches... I wiped down the stainless steel dishwasher today for the no show appliance tech, (I buff with a dry cloth in one hand and dry after each wipe). It looks way worse now, tons of new water drips and water lines appeared all over it, and it's rusting under the polished finish in spots I love the flooring though, vinyle rubber plank. Mopped today, shocked about the dirty water though there is no stove dust/wind/dirt yard/dirt road/dirt driveway dust nor mud to track in I wonder if I scrubbed harder than younger folks and brought up old attached layers tbh. Also I'm not used to stand still air, most the time the pellet stove blower moved the air as well as opening doors moved a ton of air in/out at old house I'll study the Honeywell keypad again to see if I can get circulate on for nice hours of the day when neither AC or Heat is called for. Still humid air is, um, icky even if it's not hot. Learning curve for this over the hill arid climate lady.
Yep, humidity stinks. And the flat paint is used everywhere in rentals and "affordable"-type homes because it has no sheen, and so it helps cover all the flaws in the drywall finishing. And it is usually easy to match repair work too, very desireable in rental property. I hate it too, though; semi-gloss or even satin is much easier to clean.
Yes, Wild West you are in builders grade. As cheap as it gets 15 years ago they made “no print stainless “ as for paint; a painters $30 an hour plus; spray it flat thinned paint, no backroll usually 1 color cheapest. Especially if done by “production builders” there are a whole bunch of videos on internet about inspection failures One of my friends had his childhood fridge in garage for drinks etc Sign on fridge 1974 I am not energy efficient I am ugly green and 30 years of kids have not killed me yet He’s electrician, his wife complains about electric bill, woman I pay the electric bill, you go get new ones for kitchen. He puts Polaroids of old fridges that died on side for decorations ohh and the alphabet letters for grandkids
If we lose power here can I still cook (okay, mostly perk coffee) on an NG stove? I had NG in our awesome 1967 Detroiter ( I LOVED that trailer!-- Swamp cooler on roof (Colo, worked great) and NG, forced heat and stove/water heater). I just don't remember the stove range that well except we painted it blue lol)
wildwest You should be able to light your stove with a match or even something that produces a spark. We have propane here and if the power goes out we can light the top burners with no troubles. Running the oven is something we have never done without power.
Just turn the burner on so you can hear the gas and then apply spark. I use one of those gas matches that can be used for starting your wood stove.
Can do, have had LP grills in the past without auto spark. And kitchen matches for lightiing our charcoal grill now.
Just shut off fans and only crack windows strong winds can blow them out like gas grill (usually happens on low)
Most residential gas ovens have a large electrical igniter grid that has to preheat before the oven gas valve will open. So the oven will not work without power and cannot be lit manually. You’ve already gotten confirmation that the top burners will work if lit manually. Some ovens do have standing pilots instead of igniters and would work without electrical power, but those are usually commercial models.
