A bolt action is way quieter than a 10/22. Those things make some racket when suppressed. You can definitely tell the difference on a bolt gun because there is no action noise.
For sure. I wasn't expecting anything different....just saying quieter ammo on that gun wouldn't matter. I got a box of 970 for my bolt gun and the hammer falling is the loudest part of the shot.
Amen to that. 22lr round count a few years back. Increased slightly since if anything. If you think the shortage during '14-16 pizzed off/motivated me, you would be correct.
I need to make or get a hollow point maker. I have a lot of solid point rounds on hand but I need hp.
I got you fam. No experience but highly regarded by a channel I used to follow. https://www.accurateshooter.com/gear-reviews/paco-kelly’s-acu’rzr-bullet-tool/ You may have to mail a check. Paco's Acu'rizer Tool
I have seen that one, along with several others. I like the idea of having an adjustable stop so they all end up the same.
I have never longed for one. (the idea of modifying lead bullets was given to me by the movie The Bear) But if I needed one I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Paco based on recco from Jeff Quinn, RIP.
Finally went and picked up the Element 3 yesterday after work. Happy to have one as AAC seems to be going through yet another existential crisis of identity and has stopped making them. I now have three of their units and would probably have bought more, given time. My first one came with a nice nylon pouch. Second came with a little silky bag. This one came with a sticker. lol I found pouches on fleabay for both.
Just got word today from the ATF that they have de-listed silencers, short barreled rifles and shotguns from the restricted NFA list. They can be sold over the counter on a 4473 form like any firearm. As long as your state doesn’t restrict them, they are much easier to obtain now. I’ll be getting a rimfire and probably one for the AR.
I was hoping suppressors would be legal in Georgia, but it looks like they are not. Correct me please if I am wrong. (I'd like to be wrong) I did a search looking into it so I assume my inquiry put me on a gov't list.
15 years from when I first got in. I remember people looking to me as some sort of guru or something after I had stumbled through getting a trust established. lol So happy to see them treated as they should have been all along. A boy and a mother were killed by govt in Idaho some years ago over a short barreled shotgun, I recall. So what was that for? SMH
CCI makes some .22's specifically for automatics. It's labeled something like "Auto suppressed 22". LGS didn't have any yesterday when I looked. Even with supers bolt 22 is so quiet.
With exception of some of their segmented bullets for wet targets, standard velocity and mini mags are mostly what I use and buy from CCI. Never got into the stingers or velocitors much due to being worried about their slightly longer cases and a few of my 22 rifles have bentz/match chambers. The only specialty they have that has caught my attention is the 'clean' stuff. Not interested in the compressed metal bullets but the coated lead seem like a good idea for those putting a lot of ammo through a suppressor. I have two slides of the supersonic variety but have not bought any of the subsonic yet for testing. Have started to dip my toe into 'premium' loadings though on the bottom of the cost pyramid so far with some SK. I don't think I'll go very far in since I do not compete. My go to's for extra accuracy remain Wolf match and Norma tac 22. The Norma I'm used to was made by Lapua when I started buying it and I still have some, but it's now made by RWS. I have bought a few bricks of the new version but have not tried yet. The wolf was also made by Lapua and has now changed to Eley manufacturing. I have not purchased any of the Eley made Wolf so far. I have noticed that CCI seems to be expanding their 'categories' rapidly. Marketing gobblygook? Probably a bit. There's never really been a shortage of variety for 22lr. I saw some orange colored slides of CCI recently, I think with a 'Hunting' type of marketing. Bros....I hunt squirrels with Standard Velocity! Calm down. A hollowpoint is totally uncessesary for a kill. (I use the segmented jobbies on coons/groundhogs for a more humane kill).
I eat the squirrels so I don’t like hollow points. Way more meat damage if I don’t make the headshot.
