We lit a fire this evening. Burning some gopher wood. Just about the time you sit down you should gopher another log. It’s some kind of wood like aspen or cottonwood. Never really figured it out.
Just after 11:00 last night we were just under 3". Reports are saying between 6 and 8" moving us to second wettest September on record. Lincoln, Ne had wettest day in history at 6.8". By looking at the flood creeks and where the water level was, I would have to agree. Had water get in the garage but nothing new there and just put fans on to dry it out.
39 Tonight, a huge portion of the U.P. has a freeze warning. Nope, not frost warning.....freeze warning. Temps into the low 20's
Meanwhile in southern New England, we seem to be stuck in perpetual "almost time to light the stove" season.
85 degrees in my neck of the woods this afternoon. Already back down to 68. Tomorrows high about 67. I don't know which one of you western states is responsible for this, but it needs to stop! El whoever needs to get outta here.
45ish outside. Lit a fire to take the chill off while everyone else is still asleep. I’ll let it burn out and maybe relight tonight.
Same! Now 54 headed for 41 by morning so I will make a small fire in the morning. Do you get your cutoffs from a mill?
There is a place that makes wooden toys not far from me. 38 out 63 in. Lumber cut offs and shorts doing it.
ok on the toy making place. 44 here this morning/ 64 in. Small fire with 4 small guys. I take the larger splits and cut them into 8-9" pieces and they're easier to handle and I don't have to re-split them.
48 Yesterday's high was in the 50's with a cold wind. I lit the furnace but had trouble with the draft due to the temps. I took awhile to get it going to where it should be. I don't like the smell of burning ash. Trouble is, I have, and will continue to have, so danged much of it!
