It rained all night, and half the morning. It was too wet for us to work today. I been needing badly to get some wood cut for this winter, and today happened to be the day to get-r dun. The sun poked out about lunch and it was on. This tree had been dead for a couple years, and I'd looked at it before and done had a game plan. A lot of the limbs were in sad sad shape. I put the brain bucket and and proceeded with caution. Kept my eyes up more than watching what I was doing and it all worked in the end. My freshly rebuild and mildly ported 390xp pulled the 32'' great. My MS261 finally got some trigger time on it too, Ort to be about broke in by now. Took most of the evening, but we got it all bucked up and ready to split. The stump is about 6'x 3'. The tree forked right where I cut it and the 32'' bar liked about 4-5'' cutting all the way through the forks. I'll get the wood buster hooked up to the excavator one evening this week and maybe get some pictures/video of it. For now though, all I have is a few pictures of the tree. Meant to take one when we got done bucking, but the beer was more interesting.
Actually this one didn't smell much at all! I dunno if it was because it was standing dead for so long, or something else, but it didn't stink like most the others I've cut. All I could smell was H1R and 927 .
Hey Durand. Nice to see you around. Looks like you had some fun today. How many cords do you estimate you made today?
A lot of the smaller stuff in the top will burn now. The bigger stuff wont be ready till probably next winter.
I'll probably cut 1 block off the stump when I get there with the excavator. No way I was gonna fight it by hand lol. You still got the xpw?
Sure do, no plans to get rid of it. Its my dedicated 24" saw. 28" doesn't balance well with the saw even though it definitely has enough stones to pull it.
I started busting on the right half a little after 5:00 this evening. Got majority of the big stuff busted into manageable pieces. Maybe tomorrow evening I'll get to the left side. Got dark on me before I could get a picture, but did manage to get one before I started busting....where we quit at yesterday.
