Showing results for Laramie, WY, US
    Revert to global
The City of Laramie issued a public apology for an epically bad curb painting job in its historic downtown district, acknowledging that a city worker’s yellow overspray accidentally hit nearby bicycles, sewer grates, and permanent bike racks. The city stated that the employee, who had been with the city for less than a week, was using the wrong equipment and had not been properly trained, an oversight attributed to management rather than the individual worker alone.

To correct the initial mistake, the city attempted to apply gray paint to match the underlying concrete, but this effort made the affected areas look worse by hiding the yellow overspray rather than removing it. Streets staff were subsequently directed to use pressure washers to blast away both the gray and yellow paint and complete the correction properly. The city promised to review its training, equipment-use procedures, and supervisory oversight to prevent similar incidents in the future, noting that the botched work and its subsequent fix do not reflect the quality of work expected from Public Works.
