My too kind and too caring kid got detention yesterday. Dress code violation.

Due to us both mstakenly ending up out here without unmentionable undergarments her bikini top worked for her for the first 3 days of school. One day she wore a sundress, full chest coverage and plenty long. She was told no bra straps allowed to show, perfect, her bikini top was hidden. Nope, the spaghetti straps over her bare shoulders were a violation.

    280 Dress Code Violation. The
incident occurred on 08/26/2026 at 9:06 AM.
    Incident Narrative:
1st Dress Code Violation: Warning. The student will be asked to change clothes or reverse the
offensive garment. The student will report to ISS until the dress code violation has been
corrected. If the dress code is not corrected, then the student will remain in ISS for the
remainder of the day or the student may be picked up by a parent or guardian. The absence will
be coded as unexcused. Parent contact will be made. The next dress code violation will result in
1 day of ISS and a parent phone call.
The following actions were taken as a result of this referral:
    Warning
    1 minutes
    08/26/2026

I didn't make to the phone ringing, called back 5 seconds later but main lady had no idea who had called me. So they called WWW and said bring her new clothes or take her home o_O He was already driving home from work before we hooked up and realized they called both parents.

I just reread the dress code below. Right there in print, no spaghetti straps :picard:

I'm sorry that happened. I'll be glad when things are more normal and clothes can be bought. But I'm glad the school does have a good dress code. Just look at what some wear to Walmart. Several schools down here have a uniform code...

He's been googling, came up with needing a new actuator. Battery is dead, again. Drains if it's not driven every couple days, he's wondering if that missed actuator signal is what's draining it while it sits. After jumping it today he's going to try a "reboot" method he found on the internet.

Bought one of those little black jumper cubes like the AAA guy used for our cross country trip, reading directions on how to use it so we can try the actuator reboot lol.

If the AC isn't an easy fix the repair will wait til spring since cool weather is coming soon anyway.

I don't believe the actuator has power when the key is off...

What do you guys think about this bed? It'll be 20" H with mattress on it.

Hope I like 20", the bed at old house was too high. Hard to onto (climb onto) and my feet didn't reach the ground for dressing, putting shoes etc.
Also no exposed square metal support feet. It's guaranteed I find those with some toes mid stride, just one of my many talents.

If the bed is comfortable, then it'll be just fine!

The enforcement of it is over the top for me. That said it's also my fault as glossed over the "no spaghetti straps" rule, I was happy to read no short shorts, no midriffs showing nor low cut necklines and just missed the straps line. I can see them making an example of a very revealing outfit, or repeat offender, but a new student from a different state on like the 4th full day of school?
Thank you, that's actually part of the problem, most women's sizes don't fit her (too big). Most kids clothes do not fit a female figure. We've had luck with Junior's sizes but the majority of what we've seen are too revealing for our standards much less the straps rule at school. WWW took her on a shopping spree the other weekend and she found several items, we'll keep adding to that and she already has warm clothes (LOL).
