Seems like a lot of you guys are missing the old sealed beam headlights. They came in 2 flavors, high and low beams. They were very easy to replace.

 

Did you drive or look at other brands than Ford?

 

And then the fight started!! LOL

This is the response I figured I'd get from you.

I'd buy a 7.3 F-350 SRW or F-250 in a heartbeat if Ford wasn't so proud of themselves (price wise) for building a halfway decent engine. Their friends across the street can't build a transmission so it seems like you have to pick your poison these days.

IMO Ford is the only truck out there worth looking at.

I don't like the direct injection and high pressure fuel pump on the L8T GM engine. The Ram is a box full of electronic gremlins waiting to happen, among other things. Engineers need to stand up to marketing department and stop building crap we don't need in a work truck.

I did a 50 mile round trip with the tractor yesterday. I can tell the trailer is back there, but the truck doesn't care. It doesn't have diesel power, but it isn't lacking at all. 10/10 for my needs.

 

I like Chevy, vinyl seats and floors, expensive diesel. Come at me bro

The aluminum body, and the 7.3 are what have my interest peaked for looking at Ford. Supposedly Ford's quality has gotten better, time will tell. The fender wells on my current 2500HD are starting to rust even after many oil treatments (started them too late) and my thought is, the newer Fords aren't going to have that problem. I put <6k miles on my truck a year. It's used for truck things not car things, that's what I have car for.

The 6.6 L8T is a proven commodity at this point, just like the 6.0, and 7.3 (Godzilla) are. The 10-speed transmission on GM's heavy-duty trucks have something to be desired. I agree with you about Stellantis products, no thanks.

 

Brother has 3 year old ford F350; transmission has needed repair/replacement for 9 months; in short only 1 guy in 3 states qualified to do it.. hard pill to swallow under 100k on truck and $900 month payment

The problem with aluminum is that salt will corrode it, too, if it gets under the paint. Ever see pictures of chainsaws with "magnesium rot"? Aluminum does that, too, just turns to powder. And body repairs after an accident are a bear, too. They usually replace panels instead of even attempting to straighten them.

But, there are advantages, too, namely the weight savings. I don't know which is better in the long run. I'd take an aluminum truck if someone gave me one, but I'm unlikely ever to buy one at this point.

80% of pickups on the road are not used as work trucks. The OEMs know exactly what they are doing....nothing to do with engineers. Simply business decisions.

 

yes and they are deliberately making vehicles so they need to go to dealership for service. Sell vehicle every x number of years. Needs maintenance multiple times each year..
